Ajit Abraham, Chief People Officer, Birlasoft, comes with 28 years of rich and varied experience largely in the field of human resources. His contribution to various institutions, where the human resource function holds significant value, has enabled him to carve out a distinct place for himself in his domain. He has deftly dealt with different facets of HR in some of the country’s most reputed companies.
Ajit joins us from Sevenstrata IT Services Pvt Ltd, a Sequoia-funded company, of which he was the Co-founder and Chief People Officer. Prior to this he occupied leading positions in HR in TAFE, Sify, Mobil India, Mahindra Holidays and Resorts, and EID Parry. Ajit’s 15-year tenure in Parry witnessed him also functioning as Deputy General Manager, Bio-products Division, wherein he was responsible for marketing, achievement of sales revenue, procurement of raw materials and strategic tie-ups for export.
He did his Advanced Diploma in Human Resource Development from the University of Manchester, UK, in 1988 as a recipient of the Foreign and Commonwealth Offices Scholarship awarded by the British Council. While studying at Manchester, he also underwent a ‘Train the Trainer Programme’ conducted by Industrial Training Society, UK. He had training attachments with British Steel Corporation, Ceramic Prints, Reynold Boughton, Lever Brothers and National Health Service. He was part of the first group of Business Leaders identified in EID Parry to be put through a leadership training module.
Ajit is an alumnus of the Madras School of Social Work from where he did his Master’s in Social Work (specializing in Human Resources & Personnel Management) in 1981.
