The YMCA Institute of Engineering (YMCAIE) is a college of engineering in the state of Haryana, India. It was established in 1969 by the joint efforts of the government of Haryana and the Central Agencies for Development Aid, Bonn – Germany

YMCAIE is known for its rigorous curriculum and state-of-the-art infrastructure which transforms the bright young minds into able engineers in the future.

YMCAIE has an illustrious alumni list, and has always been a favorite hunting ground for leading Indian and International companies looking to hire top-notch and well rounded talent. Amongst the companies that take part in recruitment are leaders such as ST Microelectronics, Texas Instruments, Cadence Design Systems, Adobe Systems, HCL Technologies, TCS, Cognizant, Infosys Technologies, IBM, Accenture, Aricent, Freescale Semiconductor, Sapient, Samsung Electronics, Siemens, Larsen & Toubro, LG Electronics, Oracle Financial Services Software Limited, CMC Limited, Quark, BirlaSoft etc.

In mid 60s it was realized that to keep pace with the dynamic world of science and technology, it is necessary to collaborate closely with outside world. This thought made Government of India take an initiative in venture with the State Government of Haryana, National Council of YMCAs of India and Central Agencies for Development Aid, Bonn – Germany in the form of YMCA institute of Engineering, Faridabad. The institute came into existence in 1969 to meet the demands of developing India, by providing skilled manpower with practical experience and sound theoretical knowledge.

In its establishment phase, the institute received ample technical assistance from a consortium of leading institutions of Germany. National Council of YMCAs of India arranged for import of equipments and machinery from West Germany and along with the State Government, it borne the recurring expenditure. The technical education provided since then by the institute is unparallel. From 92-93 session the State Government has taken complete management of the institute and has been meeting its all recurring and non-recurring expenditure. The institute is managed by a Board of Governors duly appointed by the State Government.

Institute began functioning with a limited no. of students and a small faculty that comprised of technical advisers from Germany, Mr. F.Kaisar and Mr. Ach, the first heads of Electrical and Mechanical Departments respectively under able directorship of Mr. K.C.Lal. Since then the institute has kept itself in consonance with modern developments, constantly restructuring its modules and renovating its physical infrastructure. The result being, now there are more then 1400 undergraduate students, around 200 postgraduate students blessed with a 150+ strong faculty.
