MADURAI: The Indian Information Technology sector was resilient enough to weather the global economic cycles of ‘booms and busts.’ Application management services were still strong, as banks and airports have to keep operating under any economic circumstance, Venkatesan Seshadri, senior vice-president, Birlasoft (India), said here on Tuesday.

He is a Steering Committee Member of the annual ‘iTalent’ event of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), which aims at showcasing the talents of students in developing information technology related projects for industry applications. He was in the city to brief college students about the contest.

Mr. Seshadri said that economic slowdown in the United States presented an opportunity. Those companies would be under pressure to reduce transaction cost.
